You know signs, houses, planets and aspects. This is the lesson that joins them: the full reading method, applied live to an example chart.
The number-one beginner mistake is reading the chart like a shopping list: “Sun in this, Moon in that…”. Astrologers don’t read pieces: they read themes that repeat. When three different signals point the same way, something is there. This method takes you straight to it.
Hemispheres (up/down, left/right?), the balance of elements and modalities, and any stellium (3+ planets together)? Don’t interpret yet: just note the climate.
Sun (sign+house), Moon (sign+house), Rising. Write the sentence: “I am…, I need…, I show up…”. Flag the most obvious tension between them: it will be a thread of the portrait.
Mercury, Venus and Mars with sign and house. Ask: do they go with or against the general climate? A fire Mars in a water chart is news.
Jupiter (where doors open easily) and Saturn (where you mature through the long exam). Saturn’s house is always valuable information: that’s the life-long homework.
Sort the aspects by orb and keep the 3-4 tightest (under 2-3°). They rule. Translate them: which two functions are talking, and in what tone?
Reread your notes hunting for repetitions: what shows up two or three times said differently? Write 2-3 themes, one sentence each. That — not the list — is the interpretation.
Let’s invent a realistic chart and read it with the method: Sun in Capricorn in House 6 · Moon in Leo in House 1 · Leo Rising · Mercury in Capricorn H6 · Venus in Sagittarius H5 · Mars in Aries H9 · Saturn in Libra H3 · Sun square Mars (1° orb) · Moon trine Venus (2°) · fire majority, cardinal dominant.
Lots of fire in cardinal mode: a person who starts, pushes, ignites. Her pillars: here to build something solid and useful (Capricorn Sun in the house of craft), needing to shine and be seen (Leo Moon in House 1!), and showing up exactly like that: warm, regal, present (Leo Rising). First delicious tension: outside pure Leo, but the engine underneath is a serious Capricorn who wants work well made.
Mercury in Capricorn H6: a practical mind of lists and systems — confirming the craft theme. Venus in Sagittarius H5 with Moon trine Venus: pleasure is expansive, creative, generous; love needs play and horizon. Mars in Aries H9: action is pioneering and seeks meaning far away. And the star aspect, an exact Sun square Mars: her ambition and her impulse don’t always row together — impatient sprints against long-term plans. Friction that, well trained, is pure horsepower.
Theme 1: a builder with a stage-lit soul — her serious work NEEDS an audience. Theme 2: the pulse between patience (Capricorn) and spark (cardinal fire): her learning is pacing herself. Theme 3: enjoyment as creative fuel, not as a final prize. Three sentences, and Marta is portrayed. That is synthesis.
